Party host DJs opened its' doors in 1986. We had been incorporated as ACEntertainment, but made the decision to focus primarily on weddings and related family celebrations including Birthdays, Anniversaries and other momentous occasions. The founders of Party Host are Dave Bolduc and Bob Ferone. Dave and Bob met while working in NYC as field engineers for Bell&Howell. Their personalities instantly meshed with an appreciation for excellence in music and attention to details.
Dave and Bob have prided themselves on staying on the leading edge of the innovation curve in both equipment and performance. This includes being the first company to pioneer themes such as participation dances, Olympic style competitions which allow guests to get involved, party props and going digital with our music by 1990. One example from the early 90s was a dance seminar at the yearly Summer DJ convention in AC. The DJS in attendance were shown the new dance craze "the Macarena". That very night we performed this classic participation dance at a wedding reception. The NJ reception guests were surely the first to enjoy this new dance that took the world by storm. This illustrates the flexibility of every event for PHDJs. The can be as much interaction as desired, or perhaps very little.
The DJ industry was in its' infancy and there were quality issues in this area that just needed to be addressed. With the interest of the DJ profession in mind, Dave saw great value in networking amongst other DJ professionals. In 1991 Dave started laying the groundwork for organizing and legitimizing the DJ profession. With effort contribution from several DJ Pros including Paul Anthony, Kenny B, Charlene Burg, and a few others, Dave started the NJ chapter of the American DJ Association. The initial meeting managed to sign up over 140 local DJ companies and began an upward trend in the overall level of professionalism in entertainment. This success led to Dave being named the first National ADJA Chapter President of the Year in 1992. Using this momentum, he started the Association Of Mobile Entertainers - AME - featuring over 60 of the hardest working DJ companies in the tri-state area. These companies shared new songs and dances as well as experiences with catering hall staff that made working new venues much more successful.
Dave and Bob also had started Party Host Supplies, aimed at supplying and educating DJ companies around the country how to incorporate inflatable props, hats, and sunglasses into their shows allowing their guests to be the stars of the show. Today many entertainment companies refer to this as cheesy - but in the early 90s, it just wasn't a party unless someone had the air guitar rockin'! Party Host still uses these props for our childrens parties, old skool party crowds, and by request! Companies that talk down this great ice breaker down fail to truly understand that this at one time was a trend.
Bob was instrumental in developing the first Multi-use DJ enclosures. These custom cases made setup and teardown easier, prevented cable wear and failure, and definitely looked more professional. This case from the late 80s shows the equipment of the time. A DJ "coffin" held two Technics 1200 turntables, and this case held the mixer and backup gear. (picture)
For the last 10 yrs. Party Host has used the slogan "Providing the Soundtrack for Life's Events" as our focus on upscale weddings and events where we feature our experience and ability to motivate guests with song selection and atmosphere. We determine at each and every event the level of interaction needed to ensure the guests have the optimal amount of enjoyment, and we always follow the wishes of the host of the party.
Over the years we had had many DJ assistants as most of our shows feature 2 performers. Today's version includes DJ/Emcees Dave, Bob, Matt, and Kristina and several Music Mixers.
